Andrew Smith ‘09 Civil Engineering Construction / Drawings For most of mankind’s time on Earth, the environment has taken care of humans. Now humans have a chance to give back. The Solar Decathlon is a competition, but I am working on it because it is a step toward protecting the environment. I was first involved in the civil engineering team, but now my emphasis is in construction. I go where I am needed. I hope that the Solar Decathlon competition will help people realize the need to respect the Earth. Post-Santa Clara Plans: After graduating, I will be commissioned in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Favorite sustainable thing to do: Going sailing! And other fun activities that don’t use electricity or gas. |
