Danielle Polk Control Systems Coordinator I don’t necessarily love sustainability; I just love the environment and find sustainability a necessary part of life. (Also, I want to get a hybrid car as soon as the price goes down). I joined the Solar Decathlon team over a year ago to work on the controls system because it seemed like a fun project. I was actually able to use some Solar Decathlon design ideas in my senior thesis. I have learned so much throughout this project and am learning new things each day. I strongly believe that our team has the ability to win this contest! Post-Santa Clara Plans: DJ! Graduate school in computer engineering, helping people – I am interested in human rights issues. Favorite sustainable thing to do: The three R’s: Reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is great, but if you drink ten plastic water bottles a day and recycle them, you still aren’t doing a good job for the environment. You have to reduce and reuse. |
